The Complex: Stadium, Hall & Conference Centre
Coventry Building Society Arena is a versatile multi-purpose destination encompassing an all-seater sports stadium with a capacity of 32,609, the 6,000-square-metre Ericsson Indoor Exhibition Hall, and over 80 individual conference suites. As the proud home ground of Coventry City Football Club (the Sky Blues), the stadium pulsates with football supporters on Championship matchdays throughout the autumn, winter, and spring.
Beyond professional football, the stadium floor regularly transforms into a major open-air summer concert venue, having hosted prominent global recording artists. Meanwhile, the indoor exhibition halls host international trade conventions, darts championships, snooker tournaments, and gaming expos.
Stadium Entry, Security & Bag Policies
To facilitate orderly ingress through electronic turnstiles, the arena implements standard security measures across all public gates:
- Bag Sizing: Small bags only (maximum dimension A4 size: 21cm x 30cm x 10cm). Large backpacks, holdalls, and rigid suitcases are not permitted through stadium turnstiles.
- Prohibited Items: Glass bottles, aluminium cans, alcohol purchased off-premise, umbrellas with pointed ferrules, fireworks, professional telephoto cameras, and flares.
- Turnstile Timing: Turnstiles typically open 90 minutes before football kick-off and up to two hours prior to major music concert performances.
Hotel Guest Advantage: Guests residing at DoubleTree by Hilton benefit from elevator access directly connecting to the corporate hospitality corridors and main atrium concourse, avoiding lengthy external perimeter queues.
Getting to the Venue
Located directly adjacent to the A444 north-south arterial corridor, the venue is engineered for multi-modal travel:
By Rail
Coventry Arena station is positioned immediately adjacent to the stadium footprint. It is served by hourly regional train services operating between Coventry Central Station and Nuneaton. On major matchdays, additional shuttle carriages are frequently scheduled to manage supporter volumes.
By Road & Motorway
Drivers approach via Junction 3 of the M6 motorway, followed by an immediate south turn onto the A444 dual carriageway. The venue is signposted prominently across West Midlands highway junctions. Be mindful of pre-booked parking requirements during major arena events, as on-site spaces sell out in advance.
